Marketing Week Engage Awards 2011!

Last night saw the brightest stars of the UK marketing world come together in celebration of the best brand and marketing campaigns of the past 12 months. Awards were given across all sectors and marketing disciplines, recognising talent and hard work across the industry.

A wide range of campaigns were celebrated, from Sky, Facebook, Santander, Veolia, and M&S which continued to dominate , winning two top prizes. It was particularly great to see some local agencies being shortlisted for the awards including Savvy, based in Leeds, shortlisted for their achievements in the In Store category, through to Elmwood and The Core who both worked on Asda’s Chosen By You campaign which was shortlisted for the Retail category.

For a full list of winners visit – www.marketingweekawards.co.uk.

Well done to all winners! We’re looking forward to another 12 months of innovative and ground-breaking campaigns from our Yorkshire based clients!

Keep visting the Network Marketing Blog where we are always keen to share our thoughts on the latest campaigns reaching our homes!

Lucozade Light Ad a Big Hit At Network Marketing

More great advertising we love.  Even if you don’t like football you should just tune in to sky sports at the half time stage of the main match, usually 4pm kick-off, on Sky Sports 1 to see  some great adverts.  Yesterday it was Manchester United and Chelsea (not much to see though) where Lucozade Lite aired a 1min 30 sec ad.

Aren’t you just a little envious of the people who have the job of creating the marketing strategy for brands like this!

For well over 1 minute you haven’t any idea what the advert is for but it’s difficult to take your eyes off it because it’s so current.  It appealed to me and my 9 year old son (which is probably more the target audience!!)

Take a look and see what you think

If they were recruiting this marketing job in Leeds or Manchester I think we’d be tempted to do it for free!

Enjoy.

Sometimes we just need a bit of a laugh..

Folks

We blog about all sorts here at Network Marketing Towers – mostly work related or stuff we are doing for charity – we try to keep it relevant for the growing number of people  are reading.

Just occasionally we pop something on here that we find amusing (well, I find amusing) – so here’s one of those occasions!

I guess you’ll need to like dogs to find it funny – enjoy!

Discovering the Hidden World of Street Sleepers in Leeds

Folks and regular readers, we at Network Marketing Towers are supporting Simon On The Streets, a homeless and rootless persons charity now covering Leeds, Huddersfield and Bradford.  In far more eloquent terms than I can manage one of the volunteers has penned a guest blog that is currently on the Guardian.

There’s a link for it here.

There will be loads of exciting news coming from the charity for the forseeable future (all will be revealed soon!) so make sure you are following them on twitter @simonotstreets or follow their blog and register for emailed updates – Clive promises there will be more!

It’s a great charity that survives solely on the support of businesses and the local community so if you feel you can donate anything then please do.

Shopping From Mobile More Popular Than PC – Really??

We’re not getting this headline at Network Marketing Towers.  Inmobi is suggesting that shopping via mobile is more popular than shopping via a PC.  Take a look at the attached article.

In a scientific survey of 16 members of Network Marketing and The Book staff we found that 6.25% had used their mobile to shop online whereas a whopping 93.75 (see what we did there with the stats…) had not .  And we consider ourselves to be a pretty tech savvy bunch!

There is a certain use of terminology here though that creates the Inmobi stat – “influenced by or purchased”.  Yes, we can see that use of our mobiles to look up competitor prices or look at reviews is more than likely however purchasing for many of us (unless on the amazon app) is some way off.

We pondered why this would be and still most of us are experiencing too slow browsing speeds on websites and therefore the purchasing process ends up being nothing short of painful.

We’d also be interested to know if this research took in to account the use of ipads or kindles?  Of course we’re happy to download another book on to the kindle (which by default I guess is a ‘purchase’) and the ipad works like a laptop (but much nicer) – so maybe, just maybe, the stats do add up.

What do you guys think?  Maybe we should start a poll!

Greyhound Rescue Charity gets NM Support

In a very brief update to our post a month ago about supporting Tia Greyhound and Rescue Centre charity we are please to announce that Network Marketing and The Barking Lot based in Wetherby raised £166 for the greyhound rescue charity.

“Tia Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue would like to thank Network Marketing for their generous support matching the money donated by customers of The Barking Lot in Wetherby. They were able to donate a total of £166 pounds to help the dogs in our care”. Debra, Tia Greyhounds.

We all feel it’s a jolly worth while cause and are keen to spread the word!  Their annual open day is coming up in May 15th where they’ll be raising much needed funds – check their website for details – there’ll be more than 100 greyhounds and lurchers there – it’s a great sight.

See a link to their website here.

Please support them however possible.
